Our product spotlight for this week is my shadow shade Mahogany
but, Honestly, it truly is a coincidence. I have used this particular shade on two shoots recently-, and one BEFORE the color of the year was even announced. (Trend predictor? hmm maybe) It looked so stunning on one of my recent models, I sent her home from our Shoot with the jar from my kit! (luckily, I know where to get more 🙂 )
As I told one recent model and photographer- I am kind of having a burgundy and gold moment going on right now in my inspirational mojo. And Mahogany Shadow so totally fills just a bit of that for me. It’s a soft wearable red/burgundy with a low satin sheen- It looks amazing on brunettes with brown eyes, BUT I also used it on a dirty blond with blue eyes recently as well, so ,really, it’s kind of a no holds barred kind of color.
and, cause I like to be an equal opportunity enabler of makeup purchasing, here are a few other brands that offer this pretty shade too, so you can Get the Glam! Stila’s Mahogany
Oooh and Maybelline’s Color Tattoo
Many of you are probably thinking, ok it’s pretty, but HOW do I wear this Mahogany shade. Ok easy- really, I promise.
This type of shade is an ideal one to swept across your entire lid. It’s so richly saturated that making it your focal point color takes it straight to the vavavoom add some thick black mascara like my favorite Loreal Voluminous, and you have an easy, but refined eye. For a little extra glam , like maybe for a holiday party? add some back liner, some lashes, and a hint of gold glimmer to the inner corner of the eye. Instant party eye!
My one really, strong suggestion? Please don’t also wear a matching shade in your clothing! Nothing dates a look more than matching your makeup to your outfit. It’s important not to clash, of course, but matching is really not modern.
As I Always say- as long as the makeup color choices enhance you, and work with your coloring, then it’s wearable! And so many shades, yes, even Mahogany are super wearable. Just choose one that enhances your tones- I prefer a bluer based burgundy which contrast nicely with my warmer (yellow based) skin tone. Whereas a pink skinned redhead might prefer something with a little more Golden red. And if your really nervous about this color- pair it with a medium neutral brown, like our Hoax and add just a pop of your chosen Mahogany shade to the center of the lid.
Get this glam on, be on trend, AND reveal your inner vixen, and then SHOW me pics of your Mahogany eye!
Mahogany will be our free sample shade of the week! With any full sized order.
